Websites: Data.gov

October 6, 2009

data.govStep aside Fedstats.gov. Looking for something a little more intuitive for your governmental data needs, well you soon will need to look no further than Data.gov.  You can get to the data in three ways: through the “raw” data catalog, the tool catalog and the geodata catalog.  Currently limited in scope, Data.gov encourages suggestions as to what should be included and also provides access the those state and local governments who already have data pages. Data.gov currently catalogs over 300 data and informational sites. Many have data extraction capabilities like the Recreation Information Database, and some only RSS subscriptions like the White House Special Feature Video Pieces feed.
