May 21, 2009

heat

Summer classes are here — that means five weeks and the class is over. Here are some things to help you beat the heat for your research projects and get you back to the sun and fun of Summer.

Firefox:

  1. AU Libraries Anywhere is a Firefox browser plug-in that allows users to search the AU Libraries’ catalog from anywhere on the World Wide Web. More information is in the CMJN Blog article.
  2. IBreadcrumbs: extension that allows you to record and edit your websearches.
  3. Zotero: Firefox extension that helps you manage research materials. More information is in the article on the CMJN Blog.
  4. Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition (from PortableApps.com): since Auburn’s Office of Information Technology does not load this on the OIT computers.

Citation Help:

  1. Help with Citations
  2. CheckCite (James Madison University):  gives easily understood examples for print and online sources in APA, MLA, and Turabian (Chicago) styles.
  3. OttoBib is a free citation generator for books. Just enter an ISBN number (it works for both the ISBN 10 and ISBN 13) and choose your citation style. Here are two numbers for you to play with: ISBN-10: 0399146431 ISBN-13: 978-0399146435.

Google Sites:

  1. Google Scholar
  2. Google Unclesam
  3. Google Books
